In her 2008 MAC Award-winning show “Come Back To Me,” Jeanne MacDonald brings to the Metropolitan Room stage a glowing celebration of Miss Peggy Lee, proving herself an artist with both the sensibility and sensitivity to convey the essence of this legend, weaving her spell with finesse. "Another fantastic show I saw over the past few days was Jeanne MacDonald's Peggy Lee tribute show at The Metropolitan Room on Saturday night at 10:00 pm. I can sum up the show in one word: "Flawless!" I have been a true-blue Jeanne MacDonald fan since I heard her NYC debut so many years ago at Eighty Eight's... "As Miss Peggy Lee had done, Jeanne MacDonald has surrounded herself with fine musicians for her new show "Jeanne MacDonald Celebrates Miss Peggy Lee in 'Come Back to Me'" at the Metropolitan Room, NYC: Latin Grammy nominated percussionist Mayra Casales, internationally renowned bassist Jennifer Vincent, and multi-award winning songwriter, arranger and musical director Rick Jensen. With the above musicians, and an obvious, extensive amount of preparation and innate musical talent, MacDonald and her musical director have put together one of the finest tribute shows to a singer I've seen in quite a while... it is with great pleasure that I can recommend this show even to die-hard fans of Miss Lee... singing with her eyes as much as her voice and spreading her arms in a welcoming gesture that makes you fall in love with her... MacDonald has earned extensive recognition for her performances both in and out of New York City. She was the 2008 MAC Award Winner for Female Vocalist and 2008 NY Nightlife Finalist, both of which she previously received in 2004. She has earned both the BACK STAGE Bistro and the MAC Hanson Awards, and while performing on the stage at Jazz at Lincoln Center in 2005, Jeanne was presented with the coveted Julie Wilson Award for excellence in cabaret. MacDonald’s debut CD “Company,” produced and arranged by long time musical director/arranger Rick Jensen, received outstanding critical praise and the MAC Nomination for Recording of the Year.
